Prof. Güneş GENÇYILMAZ
We respectfully and gratefully commemorate our teacher Güneş GENÇYILMAZ, who trained dozens of scientists in the field of production and made valuable contributions to the scientific world for many years.
Prof. Dr. Güneş GENÇYILMAZ was born in Istanbul in 1940. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1965, he worked as an engineer for a while and started his academic life in the Production Management Department of the newly established Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration in 1969. In 1971, he won the Swiss Federal Scholarship and specialized in operations research at Zurich Technical University for 2 years and prepared his doctoral thesis. He completed his doctorate in 1973 and went to England to work as a researcher with a NATO System Sciences scholarship. Güneş GENÇYILMAZ, who received the title of Associate Professor in 1977, was appointed Director of the Production Management Research and Application Center in 1981 and Head of the Production Department in 1983. He received the title of Professor in 1988 and made valuable contributions to our faculty for many years, and retired from our faculty in 2000. He served as the Dean of Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences upon his retirement, and then continued his work at Istanbul Aydın University Department of Industrial Engineering between 2010-2021, and at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University between 2021-2023.
Güneş GENÇYILMAZ, the founder and president of the Production Research Association, pioneered the first production research symposiums held in Turkey. The Production Research Symposium, which has reached international status today, is one of the most valuable legacies of our Professor Güneş. We respectfully and gratefully commemorate our Professor Güneş, who trained dozens of scientists in the field of production and made valuable contributions to the world of science for many years.
